Goalkeeper Enke fit to tour with Germany

Goalkeeper Robert Enke on Sunday declared himself fit for Germany s tour of China and the United Arab Emirates despite suffering a head injury for his club Hanover at the weekend.

The 31-year-old had to be substituted in his side s 2-2 draw at Bielefeld on Saturday after suffering a first-half cut to the head, but Enke has already telephoned Germany coach Joachim Loew to say he is fit to tour.

Enke has taken over as Germany s first-choice goalkeeper after Jens Lehmann retired last August following his country s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2008 final.

The Germany squad fly to China on Tuesday and play the national team in Shanghai on May 29 before travelling to Dubai to face the United Arab Emirates on June 2.

Danilo committed to Udinese

Udinese defender Danilo remains committed to the club, despite rumoured interest from Serie A rivals Inter.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to San Siro, having built a reputation as one of the best defenders in the Italian top-flight since arriving from Palmeiras in 2011.

However, the Brazilian claims he has no plans to move, and that he is committed to the cause at the Stadio Friuli.

No club has made an offer to buy me and my agent hasn t told me of any interest from Inter, Danilo confirmed to TuttoUdinese.

At this point I will stay at Udinese and it will not be reluctantly – I feel good and had a good season last time.

I hope to repeat that and continue to grow.

Salernitana 1-1 Inter: Freak Candreva equaliser punishes his former club as Nerazzurri slump continu

Antonio Candreva scored a freak late equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw for Salernitana and punish the profligacy of his former club Inter at Stadio Arechi on Friday.

Inter were on course to end a dismal five-match winless run, but Candreva s dramatic leveller ensured the wasteful visitors slump continued.

Simone Inzaghi s side took the lead with first goal from open play since March 5 as they netted early on through Robin Gosens.

Inter should have added several more as they created a host of chances and hit the frame of the goal twice, before Salernitana stunned them in the 90th minute when Candreva s cross found the back of the net.

Ballack reckons Blues will reach Premier League peak

Chelsea s Michael Ballack believes English champions Manchester United, weakened by the inter-season departure of goal-scoring stars, will cede the title to the Blues next season, according to a newspaper interview published Monday.

The arrival of new manager Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge has prompted hopes by fans Chelsea can win their first domestic championship since 2006.

The German playmaker believes the club head into the campaign equipped to give them a head start over United, who have lost both Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez this summer.

It is our target every year to win the league and we are confident about winning the title, said Ballack, quoted in the London Evening Standard following his appearance at a Chelsea charity event, Right to Play…

Messi reveals the secret of his set-piece success

Lionel Messi has revealed how a little homework has transformed his free-kick scoring rate this season.

The Barcelona star netted six goals from 41 set-piece attempts on goal last ter

m, but Opta statistics show he has already found the back of the net four times from 12 efforts in the 2019-20 LaLiga campaign.

Much of what Messi achieves appears to be based on a unique natural talent, but a rare insight into his dead-ball striking suggests there is more than meets the eye to his remarkable scoring feats.

Goalkeepers may have had enough of Messi putting the ball beyond them, but getting the better of the men in the gloves is an eternal challenge for the Argentinian.

Recently I have been looking into it, and especially in free-kicks, to see i…

Messi leaves Barcelona: PSG a possibility, Argentine star confirms

Lionel Messi confirmed he could join Paris Saint-Germain after his reluctant departure from Barcelona.

The 34-year-old Argentine superstar is a free agent after his contract at Camp Nou expired.

Barcelona have said they were unable to extend his deal due to financial constraints, and it means their record scorer, who has made more appearances for the club than any other player, must walk away.

That announcement first came in a club statement on Thursday evening, with sending shockwaves through the game.

He could head straight into the arms of French champions PSG, joining former Barcelona team-mate Neymar amid a squad of superstars at the Parc des Princes.

Asked about possibly joining the Parisians, Messi said in a news conference on Sunday: That …

Everton will appeal against the controversial red card given to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Thursday’s FA Cup third-round draw with Crystal Palace.

The striker faces a three-match ban having been dismissed for a sliding challenge on Nathaniel Clyne following a VAR review during the second half of the 0-0 stalemate.

Referee Chris Kavanagh initially did not even give a free-kick but was sent to review the incident on the pitchside monitor and decided the contact was enough to dismiss Calvert-Lewin.

Premier League Preview: Arsenal v Aston Villa

Arsenal will look to put their transfer troubles behind them with an opening day Premier League victory against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger s side have been continually frustrated in the transfer market, missing out on several of their reported targets including Gonzalo Higuain and Clement Grenier.

Arsenal are still said to be chasing the likes of Liverpool s Luis Suarez, but they have made just one signing since last season ended French forward Yaya Sanogo.

The 20-year-old who joined on a free transfer from Ligue 2 outfit Auxerre did impress during the club s pre-season campaign, although he is suffering from a hamstring injury currently.

Headlining the exits at the Emirates Stadium in the close-season was Russian attacker Andrey Arshavin, while Gervi…

Inter eyeing Bernard Mensah

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has learned that Inter Milan are keeping close tabs on Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder Bernard Mensah.

Inter Milan scouts are closely monitoring the midfielder s performances with a view of luring him to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza at the end of the season.

Mensah joined Vitoria from Feyenoord Ghana in 2012, and didn t need a lot of time to establish himself as a first team regular.

The 20-year-old has been one of club s star performers this season, having managed 4 goals and 3 assists in 10 league outings.

Salah availability for Uruguay clash ´uncertain´ despite joining Egypt training

Egypt star Mohamed Salah s availability for their World Cup opener against Uruguay is uncertain despite joining his team s training session Saturday.

The superstar forward – who scored 44 goals for his club in 2017-18 – joined his international team-mates in training, but was largely restricted to being a spectator.

Egypt team doctor Mohamed Abou El-Ela said there were still no guarantees Salah would play a part against Uruguay in their Group A opener Friday.

Everything looks good. His condition is comfortable, but playing against Uruguay is uncertain, he said.
