Rodrigo Muniz scores twice as Fulham stun top-four hopefuls Tottenham

Rodrigo Muniz scored twice as Tottenham missed out on the chance of moving into the Premier League top four after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Victory would have meant Ange Postecoglou’s side moved a point ahead of Aston Villa but the north Londoners instead finish the weekend in fifth.

Muniz’s double took his top-flight tally to seven goals in his last seven appearances on a day where the Cottagers shone in west London.

Sasa Lukic scored his first goal of the season as Marco Silva’s side bounced back from last week’s 2-1 defeat by Wolves at Molineux.

Fulham looked to strike an early blow through the in-form Muniz, who was freed into a pocket of space. After his initial shot was blocked by Cristian Romero, Andreas Pereira’…

Skjelbred swaps Hamburg for Hertha

Per Skjelbred has joined Hertha Berlin on a three-year contract from Hamburg following a loan spell at the club last season.

The Norwegian midfielder scored two goals in 28 matches for Hertha last term and arrives at the Olympic Stadium for an undisclosed fee.

Hertha BSC is my club, I m incredibly happy that I m back here, he beamed.

I am particularly pleased for the fans. I have always heard and read how much they wanted to see me back at Hertha.

Now the time has come and that s great.

And sporting director Michael Preetz declared his delight at having landed a long-time target.

To bring Per Skjelbred finally to Hertha BSC was a big concern for us, he said. Per is as a footballer and as a human being simply a good boy.

Skjel…

Klopp cautious with Kagawa

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp will make a late call on whether to start Shinji Kagawa against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

Kagawa re-signed for Dortmund from Manchester United before the transfer window closed, and the playmaker enjoyed a dream return as he scored in Saturday s 3-1 Bundesliga win over Freiburg.

Klopp himself revelled in seeing Kagawa back in Dortmund colours but an injury list headed by attacking star Marco Reus means he will proceed cautiously with the Japan international ahead of the Group D opener.

For a first game back it was an extraordinary one for him on Saturday, Klopp told Monday s pre-match press conference. We saw the opportunity and used it to bring him back and at least here everyone is happy.

A decision wh…

Shaw wasted at World Cup, says Pearce

Stuart Pearce believes Luke Shaw s inclusion in England s FIFA World Cup squad is a waste of the player s potential.

The 18-year-old was selected as back-up to Leighton Baines in the left-back role for Roy Hodgson s final party of 23.

Shaw was named ahead of experienced campaigner Ashley Cole, who promptly retired from the international game in the wake of the announcement.

With Shaw arguably unlikely to feature in Brazil unless Baines suffers injury or suspension Pearce, who won 78 caps for England at left-back, believes Cole would have been a more logical choice.

Luke should have been playing in the Under-21 qualifier against Wales and then going on to the (Under-20) Toulon tournament, he told The Independent.

You d be giving a young player tournament ex…

Hamburg sign Chelsea hotshot

Hamburger SV have confirmed the signing of youngster Gokhan Tore from Chelsea on their official website.

The Turkish midfielder is the third player to arrive at Hamburg from Chelsea, following the transfers of Michael Mancienne and Jacopo Sala.

Tore, who only joined Chelsea in January 2009, has signed a three-year deal at Imtech Arena.

I look forward to HSV. It is a club with great tradition, which is located in a great city. I will do my best for this club, Tore told Hamburg TV.

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen says the 19-year-old will be given time to properly develop at the club.

Gokhan is a young and extremely talented player, he is left-footed and an offensive.

He is also a physically strong player with good vision. We mus…

Tim Howard leaving Everton to join Colorado Rapids

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has agreed a deal to join MLS side Colorado Rapids at the end of the Premier League season.

The United States goalkeeper, who has spent 10 years at Goodison Park following an initial loan move from fellow Premier League club Manchester United, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Rapids.

Howard has endured a poor run of form over the past two seasons, finding himself out of the first-team picture in recent weeks as manager Roberto Martinez has elected to start Joel Robles in his place, and the 37-year-old has now decided the time is right to move back to his homeland.

I will remain an Evertonian for life. This will always be my team and my club, Howard said in a brief interview on Everton s official website.  To pla…

Germany 6/4 to win against Chile in Sunday’s Confederations Cup final

Competition: Confederations Cup
Market: Germany to win against Chile
Odds:

Chile and Germany meet at the Stadion Krestovskyi in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday evening. Germany are favourites to come out on top given their near flawless campaign this summer, while Chile have been short of wins despite making it this far – surprisingly enduring a three-game winless streak in 90 minutes.

As for the favourites, Joachim Low’s Germany side qualified for the tournament after winning the 2014 World Cup and have picked up where they left off despite a drastically changed side. The Eagles picked up seven points from a possible nine in Group B and thrashed Mexico in the semi-finals.

Unbeaten and boasting 11 goals from the four games, Chile have a …

West Ham eye Ritchie

West Ham United are set to make a second bid for Bournemouth winger Matt Richie, .

The East London outfit saw a joint bid for Ritchie and striker Callum Wilson rejected last month, and now they are ready to chance their arm again.

They are hopeful that an initial bid of £8m, that could rise to £10m with add-ons will be enough to persuade the Cherries to do business.

The twenty-six year old appeared in all but on of his side’s Premier League games last season, as Eddie Howe’s side defied the odds to comfortably retain their top flight status.

In total, he has racked up one hundred and thirty-eight appearances in all competitions, scoring thirty-one goals and was part of the squad that won promotion from both League One in 2013 and the Championsh…

Premier League move beckons for Giovinco

A number of England s top sides are expected to make a move on Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco, .

The Italy international will be out of contract in the summer, but he has yet to be offered a new deal in Turin.

And with the player currently not in the first team plans of coach Max Allegri, a summer exit appears on the cards.

According to Daily Express, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have been alerted by the latest developments as they hope to win the chase for the 27-year-old footballer.

This is the second time Sebastian Giovinco finds himself in a difficult situation in Turin, with the player having joined Parma after one such period back in the summer of 2011.

Giovinco has since returned to Turin, but he never quite managed …

Galatasaray keen on reunion with Barcelona´s Arda

Galatasaray are waiting for the green light from Barcelona to make a move for Turkey international Arda Turan.

Arda joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid two years ago but was prevented from making his debut until the midway point of the 2015-16 season due to the LaLiga giants being under a FIFA player registration ban.

The 30-year-old struggled to recapture his stellar Atleti form and, after an encouraging start last term, injuries played their part in reducing him to a bit-part role in Luis Enrique s squad.

Arda did not feature in the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Chapecoense on Monday and appears not to be part of new boss Ernesto Valverde s plans.

He has been linked with a return to Atletico, who in a quirk of fate find themselves in the same regis…
