Montella rejects talk of Fiorentina exit

Vincenzo Montella intends to stay at Fiorentina beyond the 2013-14 Serie A season despite reports linking him with a move away from the club.

Reports have suggested rivals AC Milan were preparing to make an offer for the Fiorentina coach, who has a €7million buy-out clause, with Clarence Seedorf facing an uncertain future at the San Siro.

But Montella has no desire to leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi, having arrived from Catania in 2012.

I will talk to the club about strategy for next year after the Coppa Italia final, Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

As far as I am concerned, there is absolutely no chance I won t be the Fiorentina coach next season, unless the club decides to kick me out.

Rangel to miss Swansea run-in

Swansea City defender Angel Rangel will miss the final two games of the Premier League season with a groin strain, the club have confirmed.

Rangel was withdrawn 13 minutes from time in Saturday s 4-1 win over Aston Villa, which saw Swansea confirm their top-flight status for another season.

However, after undergoing a scan on Tuesday, the Spaniard will now miss Swansea s last two matches against Southampton and Sunderland.

Head physiotherapist Kate Rees told the club s official website: Angel has been diagnosed with a grade 2 adductor strain (groin) which will keep him out of action for two to three weeks.

The victory over Villa ensured Swansea won back-to-back league games for the first time since December 2012 and Rangel urged his team-mates to continue that…

Blanc open to offers from ´big European club´

Laurent Blanc has admitted he could easily part company with France after Euro 2012 if a big European club comes calling.

The France coach is out of contract after the tournament and has been heavily linked with a return to San Siro to take over at Inter, with current coach Andrea Stramaccioni only having been installed on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Blanc has now explained that while he is currently focused on Les Bleus and the campaign in Poland and Ukraine, he is open to offers.

If a big European club contacts me, it is possible that I will sign, Blanc told TF1. My priority is still the France team but my future is not conditioned by the results in the Euro.

Meanwhile, Blanc revealed that Lyon attacking midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is…

Premier League preview: Sunderland v Manchester City

The search for the stylish Manchester City of last season is set to continue when the English Premier League champions go away to Sunderland.

City proved the league s great entertainers on their way to a first championship title of the Premier League era in 2011/12, but they have struggled to hit the same heights so far this term.

The personnel remain largely unchanged, but manager Roberto Mancini has not been able to coax the same standard of performance from his expensively assembled squad.

While there were glimpses of City s free-flowing best in their 3-1 win away to Newcastle earlier this month, that form was nowhere to be seen at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, as the heavyweight hosts laboured to a 1-0 win over struggling Reading.

With the promoted vis…

Eintracht Frankfurt fans banned from Champions League last-16 second leg at Napoli

There will be no away fans in the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on March 15 when Napoli host Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

An injunction from the Italian Ministry of the Interior is being issued to Napoli to prevent the Serie A leaders from selling tickets to Frankfurt supporters.

The first leg at Deutsche Bank Park on February 21 saw clashes between the two sets of supporters ahead of the game, with reports saying some Frankfurt fans were arrested after attacking Napoli fans at a bar.

A statement from the Bundesliga club said: Eintracht Frankfurt were informed late last night by UEFA that the Italian Ministry of the Interior is this morning going to issue an injunction against SSC Napoli, whereby the club are prohib…
