Marseille recruit new keeper

French giants Marseille have announced the signing of French goalkeeper Yohann Pele from Sochaux.

The 32-year-old arrives at Stade Velodrome on a free transfer, but the length of his contract was not disclosed.

It remains to be seen whether the experienced keeper will serve as a replacement for Steve Mandanda or if he will be a number one shot-stopper if the France international leaves.

Several years ago, Pele was widely regarded as Ligue 1 s best goalkeepers, but he then struggled to get his career back on track after being diagnosed with pulmonary embolism.

A move to Sochaux helped him return to the big stage, with Pele making 49 league appearances for les Lionceaux.
