Czech Euro 2012 star drops Werder hint

The agent of Czech Republic full-back Theodor Gebre Selassie has confirmed that his client is interested in joining Werder Bremen.

The highly rated defender has just over a year left on his contract at Slovan Liberec, but is heavily tipped to move to one of the top European leagues this summer.

Werder Bremen are currently looking for a new right-back and they believe Gebre Selassie would be a great addition to the squad.

“He is someone who interests us very much,” Werder Bremen chief Klaus Alofs .

“And he also had great interest in coming to us.”

Bild claims Slovan Liberec would settle for a fee between €1.5m and €2m, although they could ask for more after the player largely impressed playing for the national team at the European Championship.

The player’s representative and a former Kaiserslautern star Miroslav Kadlec explains the player is ready to make the next step in his career.

“The player wants to go abroad, then take the next step. A move to Bundesliga would be interesting. Werder is one of several options,” Kadlec told Bild.

The 25-year-old defender has spent last four seasons at Slovan Liberec and he is now determined to leave the Czech club for greener pastures.
